about us

We believe:

  • It's never too late to express yourself
  • There's no such thing as too much fun
  • If football players and business people can learn how to dance, so can you.

Come by to see how we capitalize on your strengths and traits to make you look like you can dance-- well!

 Who we are:

Anna Luckey, Director

Alex Jacobs, Instructor
alex_jacobs
Alex is a DVIDA certified dance instructor, holding certification with High Honors in the rhythm and smooth styles.  He started dancing in the late 90's during the neo-swing revival, but found himself drawn into the wider world of ballroom at Latin, though swing remains one of his favorite styles.  Since that time he has been a member of the University of Wisconsin and University of Pennsylvania ballroom dance teams.  Though he has been a finalist and won numerous first-place and gold awards at competitions - including Philadelphia Dancesport Festival, Liberty Dance Championships,  DC Dancesport Inferno, DC Dance Challenge, Disco America, Spring Fling, and Rutgers Dancesport Competition - Alex still considers himself primarily a social dancer.

"Dance is for everyone.  It's my belief that absolutely anyone and everyone can both learn to dance and enjoy being a dancer.  It doesn't matter if you're young or old, a man or woman, afraid you started too late or have two left feet - if you want to dance, you can do it.  I want to show you how."

Joe Donato, Instructor
joe_donato
Though both his parents met as dance instructors, Joe never had aspirations to be a dance teacher and focused on music and video production.  At age 32, he decided to explore dancing as a part-time gig and that was that!  Since then, he has received teaching awards, is skilled in the basics of over 15 traditional Ballroom, Latin and Rhythm dances, and dances at a Silver level in well over half of those. Joe just began his 6th year teaching professionally and recently produced his first interactive Ballroom Dance instructional DVD.

Donna Bencivengo, Instructor
donna_bencivengo
Donna grew up dancing ballet and jazz and doing acrobatics, then delved into musical theater dance in high school.  After college, she began taking ballroom and Latin dance lessons from an old high school friend and was hooked, and went on to become a teacher.  She has been teaching, performing, and choreographing for around ten years, and has a special love of the Latin dances.

Renee Pappas, Instructor
renee_pappas
Dancing is Renee's outlet, definition, and sanity.  She studied 15 years of ballet, mostly under the training of Wanda Hamilton, and 7 years of Belly dance instruction under Lurainya Koerber.  Renee loves music and how everyone individually translate its rhythms.  In her own words, "The female body has been misunderstood and mistreated for many years.  Belly dance has enabled me to break out of the modern world’s image and invite an earthy and ancient female understanding to re-energize and rebuild my confidence and self image."
